Teacher Professional Development Day:
“From the Forest to the Final Product”
On February 16th , teachers from the Central and South Okanagan were given the opportunity to experience how one of BC’s most valuable resources is harvested and manufactured right here in the Okanagan.  Kalon organized the event, while Mike Thomas (Tolko Industries) acted as the guide and helped the teachers learn about some of the science and technologies used to help manage our forests, manufacture wood products, and protect our environment.  Most of the instruction took place outdoors in Tolko’s TFL in the hills above Bear Creek Provincial Park, while the remainder of the field trip took place at Tolko’s Kelowna sawmill.
