2006 Women of Resource Communities Conference
April 5-7, 2006
In
early April, women from communities around British Columbia came
together to share ideas and issues at the Hills Health Ranch in
the Cariboo region (100 Mile House) for the 2006 Women
in Resource Communities conference .
Organized by the First Dollar Alliance, participants heard from
a variety of speakers, among whom were Delta- South MLA, Val Roddick
and Fernie Mayor, Evelyn Cutts, who discussed challenges for the
future as careers and the economy change and as lifestyles create
a more transient population. Areas like agri-tourism and the impending
2010 Olympics both have the potential to influence decisions made
by community members and municipal governments as well.

the proactive goals of the conference.
