Summer Camp at Silver Lake Forestry Center
With the new Lodge at Silver Lake now open, campers will find
an impressive building with a beautiful rock fireplace rising to
the ceiling, solid fir posts soaring upward and massive glulams
spanning the rooms. The warmth of wood has been well-used in this
new facility and this lodge will once again be the focal point
and popular gathering place of camp visitors.
Located about 45 minutes south of Kelowna, Silver
Lake Forestry Center has been in operation for the past 38 years
and offers quality forest education programs and outdoor experiences
to young people between the ages of 7 and 16 years. The camp has
five log cabins/bunkhouses accommodating 14-24 people, which can
be rented out for a nominal price throughout the year when not
filled with campers.
In addition to providing educational camp experiences, Silver
Lake is also used by many school and community groups throughout
the year for field trips and events. From canoeing, swimming, fishing
and hiking to archery, orienteering, forest resource study and
winter Olympics, students are exposed to a wide variety of seasonal
activities in a beautiful lake setting surrounded by forest.
Summer camps run weekly from July 16- September
1 for
various ages. For more information about any of
the programs offered at Silver Lake, please visit the Silver
Lake Forestry Centre website at: www.silverlakekidscamp.com
