Forest Education on Display at Conference

The Council of Forest Industries held its 2006 AGM recently in Kelowna at the Okanagan Grand Hotel with the theme "A World of Opportunity".

Almost 600 delegates attended the two days of panel sessions and networking opportunities on topics related to international and domestic markets and issues related to the forest industry. The Honourable Gordon Campbell and the Honourable Rich Coleman, Minister of Forests and Range also made presentations to conference delegates and special guests.

COFI South Forest Education Coordinator, Debbie Bazett, hosted a forest education booth, along with Deb Sluggett, forest educator with the Okanagan/Columbia region. On display were some of the forest education resources and materials used, as hosts shared information with interested participants on the programs available, what is being offered to teachers and students and what has been accomplished in forest education.
