Updating the Grade 3 Teaching Kit:
"Community Development, The History of Logging"

In 1998, Jeannie Steele (Riverside, Forest Educational Liaison and teacher) joined forces with Horst Giese (a Grade 3 teacher) to produce a forest education teaching kit for grade 3 teachers.  This kit linked well with the BC Grade 3 Curriculum in Social Studies, Math and Language Arts.  This year, Debbie Sluggett is reviewing and updating the kit to keep it relevant to today’s curriculum and technology.  Once this project is completed, the new kit will be put into schools in the Okanagan-Columbia and Thompson areas and possibly into other areas of the Southern Interior of BC.  For those of you outside of these zones, the resource will also go up on this website under “Lesson Plans”.  Watch for the updated edition of this resource to appear in the early fall of 2007.
