Expansion of the Okanagan-Columbia Zone

The Okanagan-Columbia forest education zone has recently expanded to include School Districts #67 and #53 in the South Okanagan, made possible with the addition of new forestry and value-added companies supporting the program. This has resulted in Kalon Nahachewsky being hired to work with Deb Sluggett in the Okanagan-Columbia zone.

Deb will continue to look after the North Okanagan and Columbia region, while Kalon will be covering the Central and South Okanagan. Their aim is to maintain the core program that already exists in the zone and expand the program into the two new school districts (#67 and #53). A big part of their role is to provide K-12 teachers with forest education resources and to develop lesson plans that connect to the BC curriculum.
