Work-Study Program- A BCIT/UBC Partnership

Silver Lake Forestry Center : May 22-24

We are trying something new this spring!! We are teaming up with BCIT and UBC to build onto a program that BCIT offers at the coast. Local grade 11 and 12 students will have an opportunity to get some "hands-on" experience in forestry by participating in a two day seminar at Silver Lake Forestry Centre in later May. Students from Districts #53, 67, 23, 22, 83, 19 and Golden will be invited to participate. At the camp, instructors from BCIT and UBC will introduce them to many aspects of forestry both in a classroom setting and in the field. This pilot project will hopefully lead to two camps taking place next year... one in the south and one in the northern part of our zone. We will have more information in the June newsletter along with pictures and captions recording the event.
