February 2006 Pro D Day

District #53, 22, 23, and 83 are teaming up for their February 17 teachers' Pro D Day. Kalon and Debbie will be offering a presentation called "Beyond Boards - The Exciting World of Wood Design and Technology". This presentation will comprise four short presentations by representatives of local companies operating in forestry's value-added sector. The speakers include:

The below companies work in and promote wood products:

Canadian Wood Council- Wood WORKS! - Promotes the use of wood in community buildings

Structurlam Products - Specialists in the design, detailing and supply of complete glulam packages

Canwood Furniture - Canadian manufacturer of high quality, precision-engineered, solid pine furniture

Aspenware - Producer of wooden, biodegradable, ecologically-friendly, disposable cutlery

This will be the first time that we have made "Value-Added" the theme for our Pro D presentations. We hope to entice teachers from K-12 who teach about our forest resource or who are interested in and appreciate working with wood.
