Expanding Our Roots
Hoo Hoo International-
Evans Lake Education Camp Projects & Beyond
Mike Hodder- Vancouver Hoo Hoo Club #48
The
Vancouver Hoo-Hoo club # 48 has been around since the early 1920's.
It has the largest membership in North America and is very active
in promoting forest education to the younger generations. Over
the years, the Hoo-Hoo club has raised close to a million dollars
to help promote this great industry.
Our
main focus is working with Evans Lake Forest Educational Camp in
Squamish B.C. This camp has about 5000 children attend each year,
where they are shown the importance of the forests. We assist the
camp in maintaining the buildings, and buying equipment such as
vans and canoes. We also have built swimming floats and docks for
the water sports equipment and have been involved in both the Temperate
Forest Foundation and the Festival of Forestry teacher tours.
Our club's goal is to look for ways to educate those with negative
views about the forest industry and to show them that we are working
hard to keep this valuable resource that we use everyday sustainable
for future generations. The Vancouver Club takes pride in this
great industry and will do whatever we can to keep our goals a
reality.
