School Activities: “Charles Bloom Secondary Community Woodlot Day (Lumby)”

Students from Charles Bloom Secondary School in Lumby, BC have been involved in teaching/demonstrating a variety of activities in their local woodlot to a number of guests from around the community for the past two years.

This year’s event will take place on May 3, 2005. As in previous years there will be a number of stations where students will get the opportunity to present information on forest-related topics: town hall meeting (forestry issues: social, environmental, and economic), forest measurement (measure/inventory), falling the tree, bucking and log processing, scale and volume, and silviculture (tree seedlings, site preparation, planting).
