TREE IDENTIFICATION
(if samples aren't available)



Procedure: (after you have reviewed how to use the Tree Book)
  • 1. Locate the following words in your glossary and check them off.
coniferous deciduous
  • 2. Fill in the blanks on your worksheet. Be sure to read all the information on each tree you identify to confirm your answer.


Extensions:
  • TREE GAME: Have the students take turns choosing a tree and orally giving clues to their group. The first student to identify the tree gets to choose a tree and give clues. (Same game as was introduced in the introductory lesson.)


Closure:
  • Go on a walk around the school yard or in the neighbourhood and try to identify as many trees as you can or ask students to identify the trees in their own backyard.
