TREE IDENTIFICATION

Learning outcomes:
  • Students will build on their ability to identify a local living resource; the tree, by looking at its features.
  • Students will increase their ability to use the Tree Book as a resource.
  • Students will add to their vocabulary.


Question:
  • Can you identify a tree? What features help to identify a tree? (discuss with partner)


Setting the Stage: (approx. lesson time : 1 hr.)
  • Review the use of the "Tree Book" as learned in the introductory lesson. You could play the Tree Game as a way of review. Work in pairs or in your group.


Materials:
  • Tree Book
  • Copy of the worksheet to be completed (one per student)
  • Copy of the Lesson Overview (one per group)
  • Copy of the Lesson Plan for each student
