CAREERS AND TECHNOLOGY
Learning Outcome:
- Students will observe the diverse role of technology in the forest industry
- Students will see the effects of technology on the workplace and discover how this effects lifestyles
- Students will identify various careers in forestry
Question:
- When considering a career, how many other extended jobs can you identify?
- What types of technology did you learn about from the video?
- How do you think some of these tasks might have been performed years ago?
- Name some careers you noticed on the video.
- Can you think of some other careers that might be related to the forest industry? (supporting careers - machinery and equipment, computer equipment and office related, vehicle trade, other construction materials, and so on....)
Setting the Stage:
Part 1: (Time: 10-15 minutes)
- Brainstorming career opportunities surrounding the
tree planter
Part 2: (Time: 25 minutes)
Part 3: (Time: 25-40 minutes -this part could be eliminated if not enough time )
- Students view the remaining portion of the video and will be prepared to discuss other examples of technology and careers
