ACTIVITY 1 – THE HISTORY OF YOUR COMMUNITY
Materials Needed
- History of Vernon (We
welcome any additions you can provide)
- Worksheet “4”, History Project – a Buddy Activity - 50Kb PDF
- Large pieces of paper (approx. 1m x 1m) for each group
Directions
- Small groups of students work with older student buddies to create a large tree cookie with
30 rings.
- Teacher selects a limited number of dates from the information provided (on the history of
Vernon) for students to record on the tree rings. Each ring could represent 5 or 10 years.
