Learn Forestry History
In 1998, two forest educators, former teachers Jeannie Steele and Debbie Sluggett, wanted to share their forest-based teaching resources with teachers, students and the general public. The concept of developing a website via a partnership with Kalamalka Secondary School students in Vernon, B.C. resulted in an interactive site that offers lesson plans, games, book and video lists, newsletters and much more for web visitors of all ages. Over time, the site became too large for students to handle and a professional web-designer was hired, but the imprint of the student designers can still be found. As you wander through the site, you will see that many forest educators, teachers and students have contributed to the site since its inception.
